Art Against Racism

When the pandemic confined so many of us to home, I was fortunate to be able to work remotely as part of the central organizing committee for Art Against Racism. Together with the dedicated founding co-chairs Dr. Judith Brodsky (artist/writer/activist) and Rhinold Ponder (lawyer/educator/artist), we sought submissions from individual artists and community groups for this online project in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. The themes of “Memorial.Monument.Movement” include racism, police violence, mass incarceration, historical figures, civil rights, and more. The juried website shows photographs and videos documenting individual and collaborative work, including murals, posters, music, etc, as well as a video of the gala project launch that was timed and focused to get out the vote for the presidential election of 2020. Artwork for this project continues to be made and shown..
